winter

is here

Aloha -

Firstly thanks for still having my in your inbox, it’s good to be back. If this isn’t useful for you anymore, no dramas 🙂 You can unsubscribe at the bottom of the email. The much better option though - obviously - is to share with with a pal…

Anyway, it’s been a while hasn’t it yada yada yada let’s get into it!

Welcome to Winter 🥶 It’s here, it’s freezing, it comes at the same time every year - and yet I still find myself counting the days until spring arrives.

I’ve written in the past about how to make the most out of winter - so, more for myself than anything, here’s my plan this time round.

What are you up to this winter? What am I missing?

Cheers!

This Week I’m ⬇️

Some interesting stuff worth sharing

đź“– Reading the Slow Horses series - at my latest count (because it’s harder to figure out than you’d think), there are 16 books including 5 novellas. The fact Apple is about to make a 5th series from the 5th book tells you all you need to know about how good the series is!

🌳 Also reading this article about who owns England’s woods. A large amount of acreage was bought during WW1 by the Government under the Forestry Commission for timber, and post WW2 to build housing, as an example

🍓 Watching this video on Dyson - yes, that Dyson, farms in rural England. I promise you it will be the most interesting, but also peaceful, 6 minutes you spend today

🎧 Listening to The Rest Is Entertainment - the best new podcast in my life, such a great insight into the world of entertainment, from books to TV, music to whatever else. Their coverage this week of The Traitors Season 3 was super interesting (spoilers for Ep1)

đź–± Enjoying my MX Master mouse - it’s about 4 years old but still going strong. I don’t think anywhere enough people know that you can get a mouse that scrolls sideways!! Perfect for Excel, slides, webpages etc

⏳ Using the 5 minute rule - if it takes 5 minutes, just do it now. Good to get things off your back

đź“˝ Watching Liam Brown’s hiking videos on YouTube. Linked is a personal favourite, where he hikes from John o’ Groats on the Northern tip of England to Land’s End, on the south western tip of Cornwall. WTF!!

🛍 Buying Lululemon Always in Motion boxers - take this as permission to stop wearing old, uncomfortable underwear. It’ll change your life

đź–Š Reading/watching/listening to Marina Hyde anything - she’s on the Rest is Entertainment and seems to be some sort of genius. She knows about basically everything

📧 Newsletter of the week: The Salary Boost Newsletter - if you have no idea what to do next to increase your salary, this newsletter is the way to go. Weekly step by step guides, tips and insight by someone who has done it themselves on what to do in your role to get more ÂŁÂŁÂŁ

đź’¬ And finally, a quote

The more there is, the more people crave, and the more they crave, the more they, well, crave more.

A sidenote, if you got this far. Planning isn’t doing. After a while, it becomes yet another way to procrastinate. As you can tell, this email has been sporadic, mainly from planningitis, if you will, but also because I only want to write when I have something useful and, hopefully, interesting to share.

I want to continue to write about the things that make my brain tick. Whether it’s on figuring out how to become a better person, or if it’s just some cool stuff I’ve read recently. So this might become a bit more random. But, I think it’ll become better as a result. I don’t want to write just for the sake of writing something, so in those moments I’ll justshare the cool stuff I’ve been seeing. There’s plenty of it.
